On May 14, 2015 Doug Fritsch who was living in Riverdale, New Jersey at the time, sent this e-mail to me, Bob Meli, about his service.
Hi Bob,
My name is Doug Fritsch. I graduated from HHS in 1965. I spent 3 years
at HHS.
I joined the Navy on March 23, 1966 and left on April 1, 1969.
I was station on the USS Canberra GAG 2 CA 70; I did 3 tours to Vietnam
9 months, 8 months, and 6 months. We gave support to ground troops up and down the coast we also fired on targets in North Vietnam. We spent 18 days in North Korea when they captured the USS Pueblo. I became Commander of VFW Post 8096 Butler N.J. in 2006 to 2014.
I am also a member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 800 of
Bergen County.
